Board begins planning for North Bay Village's 80th anniversary; ideas range from drone shows to tree plantings

"We are we've decided internally that we're gonna push it just a little bit, like, a couple months because our budget replenishes October 1," staff said, noting the fiscal-year constraints.
Members suggested themes tied to local history (old nightclubs and entertainers associated with the village), a boat parade or drone show as environmentally friendly alternatives to fireworks, and family-friendly activities such as scavenger hunts and pirate-themed events. Several members recommended exploring partnerships with local arts groups, restaurants and boat owners.
Staff will consolidate ideas, check budgets and return with a proposed scope and timeline for discussion at a future meeting.
