Commission amends vehicle‑age ordinance to exempt municipal circulators until 20 model years

County counsel read proposed language to amend ordinance 1g1 so that "the passenger motor vehicles used to provide municipal circulator service be operated until such vehicles reach 20 model years of age" and to strike the 350,000‑mile reference. The change was limited to municipal circulator vehicles and did not alter fixed‑route vehicle rules.
Vice Chairwoman Regalado said the change addresses the City of Miami’s concern about higher mileage on city trolleys and that removing the mileage threshold would avoid unintended impacts on municipal fleets. The amendment was proffered, moved, seconded and the ordinance passed "as amended" on a unanimous roll call.
The commission recorded the vote publicly: Commissioners Bastian, Bermudez, Regalado and Chair Gilbert voted yes. The board directed staff to draft and circulate the implementing language and said the chairman’s office must approve the final memo to place the amended ordinance in the code.
