The Town of Edisto Beach Zoning Board of Appeals met April 13, 2026. The board approved the transcribed minutes of its January 26, 2026 regular meeting (motion by Bill Davies; second Stephanie Renner) and then conducted a hearing on Appeal No. 2026-01, a variance request for property at 820 Dawhoo Street in the R‑1 district.
Applicants H. Preston Walter (representative) and Susan Shepherd spoke in favor of the variance; Shepherd told the board the request was intended in part "to add square footage to the home." After testimony and questioning, the board recorded roll votes on the four criteria required for any variance; each criterion failed by a 0–7 margin. Chair Ned Kuntz moved to deny the variance, Bill Davies seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. With no further business the board adjourned; a digital audio recording and the minutes are on file at Town Hall.
