Staff explained the certification establishes the maximum levy the district may collect and can be reduced in later steps of the tax-setting process. “What you have represents the absolute maximum, and we set it at that. It can go down,” a staff member said while describing the levy-certification step. The motion to certify passed on a 6–0 voice vote.
Board members approved scheduling the Truth in Taxation session, which provides an opportunity for taxpayers to question levy and tax-rate decisions before final certification. No adjustments to the levy were made at the meeting; next steps will follow the district’s budgeting timeline leading up to December.
