Westfir council approves $2,700 purchase of two custom trailers for mobile water tanks

Mayor Richard Watson and the Westfir City Council approved a $2,700 expenditure in August to buy two custom trailers to transport water totes and pumps purchased in July for fire suppression. The special teleconference meeting convened at 3:02 p.m. and the motion carried 4–0 with Councilors Watson, Deretta Huey, Dylan Cheatham and Jara Mouracade voting in favor.
Watson told the council that buying used trailers “wasn’t feasible because the available trailers didn’t have the structural integrity to carry 3,000 pounds of water and many were too large, which would be a problem for wintertime storage at City Hall.” Council discussion focused on cost, when the trailers would be available and who would transport the tanks. City Recorder Nicole Tritten confirmed an anonymous Westfir resident had offered to purchase one of the trailers, which councilors noted could partially offset the city’s expense.
The approved purchase covers two custom trailers selected for their load capacity, portability and storage footprint; the council recorded the action as an August expenditure. Mayor Watson adjourned the meeting at 3:24 p.m. The meeting minutes were later signed by the mayor and the city recorder on Sept. 8, 2025.
