Westfir operator warns of wastewater plant compliance issues, recommends pipe cleaning or replacement

City Operator Bobby Archer told the Westfir City Council on Feb. 2 that the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is facing continuing water-sample compliance issues and that an engineer will be brought in to consult on next steps. He said he and the city’s certified water consultant, Max Baker, plan to empty and clean the piping system as an immediate measure.

Archer said there is "significant intrusion of roots into the WWTP outflow pipe, and the pipe would have to be either cleared or replaced soon." The council did not record a formal vote on repairs during the meeting; Archer left the meeting after delivering the report. The minutes indicate the city is moving to address compliance and mechanical issues rather than defer action.

The report identifies both an operational task (cleaning/clearing the piping) and a capital concern (possible pipe replacement).
