The Board discussed and approved a series of personnel and policy updates at the Oct. 14 meeting. Jason Rubin, Associate Superintendent of Human Resources, explained that certificated management employees hired before Jan. 1, 2021 had been placed on a 5% professional growth rate while later hires were originally capped at 3% in draft language; after consultation with STRS the District reversed that draft language so eligible certificated management employees hired after Jan. 1, 2021 will also receive 5% growth. The Board approved the updated Confidential, Supervisory, Management Handbook to reflect the correction (RES.25-237).
Trustee Andrea Hoheisel, serving as the CSBA policy liaison, recommended retaining a paragraph on do-not-resuscitate orders in BP 5141 and adding the sentence "Parents shall be notified of the student's absence" to AR 5141 regarding absences for confidential medical services before waiving the second reading and approving the policies (RES.25-230). Rubin told the Board the payroll supervisor will review management salaries to ensure placement on the 5% professional growth plan.
