Administrators warn bullying reports are undercounted; communications plan to be reviewed at retreat

Administration told the board that discipline and climate metrics currently in Oregon Data Suite appear to undercount bullying incidents at the intermediate school and that staff will investigate the data pipeline between Synergy and Oregon Data Suite to find the breakdown.
"We are only showing 1 bullying incident year to date at the intermediate school, and that is completely not that is incorrect," the Superintendent said, adding that parent emails and internal reports indicate additional incidents. The board directed the administration to calibrate reporting inputs and give an updated report.
On communications, administration reported a modest increase in social media followers this year (about +100 on Facebook) and proposed a monthly staff newsletter and community outreach ideas such as leaving printed materials in local restaurants or staffing booths at community events. The board agreed to review and refine the communications plan at the retreat.
Next steps: administration will diagnose the bullying-reporting discrepancy and return with corrected data and will provide the communications plan and social-media metrics at the retreat.
