District plans STAR rollout, estimates first-year cost closer to $30,000

The district expects some startup funds to offset initial expenses but will cover yearly licensing thereafter.
Administrators emphasized that buying the assessment is only the first step: principals and teachers will need training on how to use STAR data to inform intervention groups and instruction. The Superintendent said the district will schedule STAR demos at the retreat so the board can see sample reports and decide which data they want tracked.
Next steps: administration will present a STAR demo at the retreat and return with an implementation timeline and a budget request for board consideration.
