Superintendent explained the district's current vendor has been difficult to contact and is not expected to deliver required accessibility features in time. "We're gonna need a voice to read what's there," the superintendent said, describing mandatory closed-caption and audio requirements the U.S. Department of Education will enforce. He also described push-notification capability and photo-captioning tools that the district could use to promote positive school news.
Apigee representatives offered a modified billing timetable to ease cash-flow impacts; the board approved the contract on a 6–0 vote. The superintendent said the contract is intended both to ensure legal compliance and to improve communications with families.
