Board approves personnel reports and multi-year staff agreements

The Kenyon-Wanamingo School Board voted unanimously to approve personnel items and staff agreements at its Oct. 27 regular meeting.
Chair opened the personnel report and noted the retirement of Teresa Jacobson, a peer professional in the special education department, after 35 years of service. The board then approved the personnel report and moved on to contract items. The board adopted an Education Support Professional agreement covering 2025–2027, with percentage increases aligned to the teachers' contract and largely clerical language updates. "The language was largely just... clean up," the superintendent said during the presentation.
Separately, the board approved a revised activities director agreement for 2025–2026 that removes a prior $75/month cell-phone stipend and formalizes summer hours (40 hours at $40 per hour in the present proposal) to keep costs lower than the previous $7,000 figure. The superintendent explained that the revised structure "is just flat" and that the employee is comfortable with the concession. All motions were seconded and passed 6–0.
The board also approved seniority lists (KWEA, ECFE, maintenance, IT, and ESP) for 2025–2026 by unanimous vote. No votes were recorded against any of the personnel or agreement items.
