Trappe introduces ordinances to authorize up to $1,141,000 for sewer pumping-station upgrades

President Schmidt read two ordinances on Nov. 6 that would authorize the issuance and sale of up to One Million One Hundred Forty-One Thousand Dollars ($1,141,000) in bonds or bond anticipation notes to finance repairs, upgrades or replacements of sanitary sewer pumping stations in Trappe. Attorney Lyndsey Ryan told the council these ordinances were drafted after the town was required to secure additional funding from USDA because project costs increased.
Ryan said the drafts had been reviewed by USDA and bond counsel and that introduction was recommended because the town’s interim financing with Shore United is set to expire on Dec. 5. Commissioner Jeremy Newnam moved to introduce both ordinances; the motions carried unanimously. Public hearings on the ordinances are scheduled for Dec. 4, 2024 at 5:45 p.m., at which time the council will receive public comment before any final vote.
Next steps for the council include the Dec. 4 public hearing and any subsequent vote to adopt financing; the transcript records introduction but not final adoption.
