Council approves FY2025 renewal of network security software; staff says renewal supports cyber-insurance requirements

City staff presented and the council approved a fiscal-year renewal for the city's network security software from SHI during the Aug. 4 meeting.
Mr. Hansen said the renewal — reported in the staff packet with a dollar amount — provides next-generation antivirus, firewall management and endpoint detection and response and includes enhanced features such as internal vulnerability assessment. Staff said much of the renewal is required to maintain cyber-security insurance and recommended awarding the renewal to SHI based on both cost and performance. Funding for the renewal was identified in the general fund budget.
After council clarification about the scope of services, the council approved the renewal by roll call vote 6-0.
