The Trappe Town Council approved a request on Sept. 4 to close Main Street for the 157th annual Nace’s Day celebration on Nov. 2.
Yvonne Freeman, chairman of the Nace’s Day celebration, requested closing Main Street from Slaughter Lane to Howell Point Road from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a parade at 1 p.m. and additional activities until 4 p.m.; she also asked to use Nace’s Park, Veteran’s Park and the open lot behind Veteran’s Park for the day. Sgt. Aita said he would coordinate with the Sheriff’s Office for street closures and Commissioner Jeremy Newnam said the fire department has barricades the event can use. The council approved the closure and use of parks as requested.
The council did not record any public objections; staff were directed to coordinate logistics with public safety partners and event organizers.
