County, volunteers to stage sandbagging effort July 6; donor to supply cement truck

"One load will do 800 sandbags," Underwood said, and the county planned to bring about 5,000 bags plus two sandbag machines to speed filling. Underwood described a plan to run a cement truck as a continuous hopper feeder into the bagging machine so volunteers can rapidly fill and tie bags.
Council and county staff discussed logistics: pallets and storage inside the city shop to keep bags dry, weight limits for handling (roughly one ton per skid-steer pallet), and volunteers bringing extra zip ties. The clerk confirmed downtown equipment and pallet availability and that the city has a backhoe/forks to move pallets.
Organizers asked residents and volunteers to meet at the city shop at the scheduled time; the county said it would continue coordinating volunteers, machines and sand deliveries so the town would have ready-to-deploy sandbags for post-fire mitigation.
