Redfield adopts 2025 Appropriation Ordinance totaling $3.31 million

The Redfield City Council adopted Ordinance No. 01-2024, the 2025 Appropriation Ordinance, at its Sept. 16, 2024 meeting. Finance Officer Adam L. Hansen read the second reading of the ordinance; a motion by Councilmember Matthew Weller, seconded by Brent Derscheid, to adopt the ordinance carried on a roll-call vote with all members voting “Yes.”

The ordinance lists total appropriations and accumulations of $3,309,825 and total appropriations of $2,849,175 with a stated total app. & accum. of $2,876,775 in packet tables. Major line items include General Government ($354,525), Public Safety ($687,600), Public Works ($791,575), and Culture and Recreation ($760,875). The ordinance also presents expected revenues (taxes, intergovernmental receipts, charges for goods and services, and miscellaneous revenue) to balance the appropriation. The finance documents included a tax levy authorization for general purposes of $1,335,000 and listed salary figures in Section IV.

The ordinance package incorporated Community Memorial Hospital figures and other proprietary fund estimates. The hospital figures in the packet show total patient revenues of $29,665,460 and net patient service revenues of $18,357,832; hospital operating revenue and expense line items were provided as part of the materials presented with the ordinance reading. The council voted to adopt the ordinance following the second reading and clerk confirmation of the motion.
