City staff told council that 1970 East Main Street is in unsafe condition and is not economically feasible to repair; the prior owner has agreed to deed the property to the city at no acquisition cost, subject to outstanding taxes. "Acceptance of the property will support timely clearance and future reuse of the prominent site along East Main Street," staff said, and recommended a resolution authorizing acceptance and a license agreement granting the owner temporary access to remove personal belongings before demolition.
Hansen said no additional city funding was required and that acceptance would reduce anticipated legal expenses related to demolition proceedings. Council discussed the long-standing nature of the blight at that corner and praised staff and negotiators for reaching an agreement; the resolution passed on roll-call vote with all recorded members voting yes.
