City staff told council the city has begun deploying smart meters, pressure sensors and accompanying software to track system performance and predict failures. "We have deployed those smart, systems... now we just gotta make the time to get trained and get efficient and learn how to use those things appropriately," the presenter said.
The presentation framed the technology as a proactive tool to reduce unplanned outages and emergency repairs by flagging pressure changes and other early indicators. Staff said software is in place and highlighted the need for staff training and time to integrate the systems into routine operations.
