Architect says AI-rendering used for concept; technical drawings govern final dimensions
Summary
The project architect said the large exterior rendering shown to the commission was produced with AI and is a conceptual image; the submitted technical drawings carry the accurate dimensions including the 28-foot parapet height and window proportions.

Architect Dallas Nelson told the commission the large exterior illustration included in the presentation was produced using an AI rendering tool and cautioned that the image is a conceptual visualization rather than a precise technical drawing. Nelson said the AI version 'captures the essence' but is not dimensionally accurate; the final elevations and construction drawings provide the measurable details commissioners will rely on.
"The rendering itself came from AI, amazingly," Nelson said. "As I measured it, this came out about 75 feet in length when the building's actually a 100. So the AI program didn't get things 100% but it captures the essence and concept sketches and renderings have always been close representations of what the final will be, but then the technical drawings are very accurate and would represent final dimensions and lengths." The commission discussed materials—dark brick, black metal accents, parapet walls and details intended to meet Gateway historic design guidelines—and asked the applicant to provide brick samples and finalize sign approaches through the sign-permit process.
