A city presenter told council the Canal Street Drainage Project and Madison Street Park are among the top stormwater priorities identified after the Golden Leaf study conducted following a flood. "The 1st of which is our Madison Street Park... phase 1 is at $1,400,000," the presenter said, and added that Canal Street remains the number‑one choke point identified in the study.
Staff said they received a FEMA update pushing Molly's Branch into another funding channel and that they are pursuing parallel tracks with the state Department of Emergency Management to keep options open. The presenter warned that some projects require DOT or utility relocations before work can proceed under structures such as bridges.
