Staff told the board they had secured community project grant funding totaling $637,195 for the county's emergency operations center and backup 9-1-1 capital project.
"It is important to note that Durham County was the only county in the state to receive funding through this particular program in fiscal year 2024," a staff member said, congratulating cross-departmental work that produced the award. Commissioners thanked staff and noted it was a significant achievement for emergency preparedness.
The county will move forward with the capital project amendment to recognize the funds in the relevant capital project account; staff described next steps for project scoping and coordination with affected departments.
