Student board members sworn in; principals and staff report positive early rollout of RTI

Superintendent Owen Crosby administered the oath of office to new Student Board Members Ava Wilson (Foothill HS), Aiden Johnson (Shasta HS) and Heaven Torrez (Enterprise HS) during the Sept. 9 meeting. Each student summarized campus activities: Wilson described strong student-section support at football games, Johnson noted recent campus upgrades and increased student involvement, and Torrez said RTI has been beneficial for many students though opinions are mixed.
Principals and department chairs elaborated on RTI implementation and other campus events. Tim Calkins (Alternative Education) reported Pioneer Continuation High School is under consideration for the Model Continuation High School review by the California Department of Education, with a CDE team visit planned in October. Several principals praised Back to School Night turnout, peer tutoring and restorative justice initiatives.
