Council rejects resolution after heated debate over Energy & Environment Commission wind forum

Councilor David Carlin brought a resolution after public attention to a three‑panel summer educational series organized by the Energy & Environment Commission on climate and offshore wind. Carlin said opponents were shut out of a panel and sought a city-arranged hearing for those opponents; he later amended the language to remove allegations and to ask the city administration to arrange a public hearing for opponents so that all voices could be heard.
Members of the commission and numerous public speakers defended the series as educational, noted outreach and multiple panels, and said the commission had tried to include varied perspectives. Several speakers said the panels were balanced or that operational deficiencies were an implementation issue rather than censorship. The council took roll-call votes on the amended text and then on the original language; the amended motion failed in committee votes and the original resolution was rejected by the council (recorded as a 6–1 rejection).
