Project Manager Zane Schreder described the proposal as "a good bid and good company," and the board moved quickly to a vote after brief discussion. Board member Larry Glover made the motion to approve the contract; Clerk Cody Lamb seconded. The vote was recorded as five ayes with no opposition.
Board members discussed cost details during the item. The restrooms were added as an extra line item that increased the contract price by approximately $250,000. The district had been expecting bids near $2.4 million and had budgeted $2.8 million for the project; Superintendent Miguel Barriga stated that the district has the funds to cover the additional cost.
Board member Jim Bingham asked about the source of funds and received assurance from Superintendent Barriga that funding was available. With the vote passed, the board concluded the agenda item and proceeded to adjourn the special meeting at 5:55 p.m.
