Corine Maday, CTE department head, told the board the district is advancing CTE pathways, pursuing A‑G and dual‑enrollment approvals (including arrangements with Shasta College), and intends to offer a Fire Technology course in fall 2025.
Maday said the Fire Technology course had been discussed two years earlier and that the district expects instructor recruitment to be the primary hurdle. She said the CTE instructional coach will provide support and that staff will explore grant opportunities to fund program needs.
The board noted enrollment limits may apply and asked staff to pursue funding and scheduling details. If approved through course-approval processes and if staffing is secured, the course would join existing CTE offerings such as Careers in Business and Marketing & Media Design.
