CUHS principals highlight WASC visit and student progress, district reports enrollment dip

CUHS Principal Jason Armstrong told trustees that the recent WASC visit highlighted classroom strategies, organized student binders and multiple measures—English language arts, math, science, suspension rates and English learner progress. "WASC is a continual improvement cycle," Armstrong said; the visiting team’s draft report is expected within a week, with a final recommendation due April 28 that will set the next revisit timeline.
Centennial Principal Audri Bakke reported project‑based classroom work, MTSS training attendance and recent graduations—four new graduates since last month and eight at Adult School—while Student Board Member Jerry Rodriguez summarized student activities including winter sports, rallies and upcoming events.
Superintendent Miguel Barriga framed district priorities around Common Core‑aligned math practices, literacy and multiyear pathways for college and career readiness. Barriga also gave routine facilities updates and said ag classrooms are out to bid, with bids opening Feb. 24. He reported district enrollment figures: CUHS 952 (down 1), Independent Study 41 (up 5), Centennial 59 (down 10), total district 1,052 (down 12).
The district will solicit stakeholder feedback on the LCAP and hold a public meeting on June 18, 2025, with LCAP approval scheduled June 19, 2025.
