Trustees weigh joining new county boards association, debate CSBA engagement and EDC concerns

Trustee Peggy Cohen Thompson asked the board to place an item on the February agenda to consider whether the Solano County Board of Education should join the newly formed Association of California County Boards of Education. "I did ask someone from this new board if they could provide someone to make the presentation," Peggy Cohen Thompson said, adding she is prepared to present if no outside representative is available. Trustees debated timing and representation on the delegate assembly and suggested staff invite a representative to inform the board’s discussion. Separately, Trustee Sharp raised concerns about EDC membership and said there had been reports to the board of supervisors alleging Brown Act problems at the organization; trustees recommended inviting the EDC executive director to respond and noted allegations have not been proven.
