Solano County Office of Education staff told trustees they are beginning the budget-development cycle that follows the governor’s 2025–26 proposal. Cornelius Javier Jr., the district’s manager of district business services, said the SCOE team will prepare two sets of budgets and will submit the second interim financials for the current 2024–25 fiscal year by March 15.
"We are nearing the governor's 25–26 budget development, and I would like to provide a quick refresher to the board on how the governor's budget will impact schools budget development for 25–26," Javier said, outlining a timeline that includes attending a Jan. 21 School Services workshop and reconciling restricted-program budgets before completing unrestricted budgets in the SAC software. He said assumptions will be disclosed in the board’s budget document and that staff will consult state sources such as the Legislative Analyst’s Office and Department of Finance when projecting revenues.
Trustees praised the presentation and asked clarifying questions about assumptions and the schedule for next-month analysis. SCOE staff said a follow-up presentation and analysis of the governor’s proposal will be provided to the board in February.
