The Perry City Council approved a professional services agreement to support construction oversight on Sumas Avenue tied to a RISE grant. City staff said the agreement will not exceed $400,000 without additional council approval and noted contractors have already begun some grading and surface work under preconstruction arrangements.
City Administrator Sven reported Sumas Avenue is closed for grading and upcoming underground sewer and water work and said the project remains on schedule. “Sumas Avenue is closed right now for construction,” Sven said as he described recent progress. Council members discussed staging tradeoffs—keeping access for downtown businesses versus working faster—and the need for detailed schedules to coordinate grant timelines and partners.
