Architects and representatives for the owner presented an ASPR (administrative entitlement review) for the Wynwood Art Plaza project at 128 Northwest 25th Street. Peter Blitzstein said the project converts three small structures into a plaza and gallery space and that the owner — a Montreal-based art dealer — will choose nationally known artists for facade artwork. "We've totally redesigned the exteriors, created a kind of a plaza in front," Blitzstein said while describing storefront glazing and exterior improvements.
Committee members noted that adaptive reuse and additional gallery space are priorities for Wynwood and moved to recommend approval to the planning director. The motion to recommend approval passed, allowing the applicant to pursue the three-year entitlement lock-in (ASPR) and subsequent building-permit work.
