SCOE reviews Williams settlement audit and reports no uniform complaints

The Solano County Office of Education presented its required Williams settlement audit report and a quarterly update on Uniform Complaints at the Nov. 13 meeting.
Superintendent Estrella Henderson explained that the Williams audit ensures schools provide sufficient instructional materials in the four core subject areas, confirms facility conditions do not pose emergency threats to health or safety, and monitors teacher misassignments and vacancies. "We are required to do the audit to ensure that students have access to sufficient instructional materials... and ensure that the facility at the time that we go does not pose any emergency or urgent threat to the health or safety of students or staff," she said.
Staff also reported that no uniform complaints were submitted during the quarter covered by the update. The written materials included a chart listing visited schools and a countywide summary of results; the district-level appropriately credentialed-teachers report from the California Department of Education is expected in spring and will be shared when available.
Board members were offered the chance to ask questions; staff offered to follow up in writing where data items were pending release.
