SCOE reports 22 new hires and issues temporary certificates ahead of school year

Garcia said, “We had 22 new hires, this last period, and 12 out of the 22 are in the classrooms…” noting that three of the 22 were new positions created to meet evolving needs. He also described the temporary certificates of clearance issued by the county office to charters and districts, which generated a substantial packet of pages given the time of year.
Trustees asked whether any of the 22 positions were brand-new roles or replacements for retirements; Garcia said three are new positions, some resulted from retirements and others were created to meet new needs. The board did not take action on staffing at this meeting; the staffing report was provided for information and to ensure trustees had visibility into hires and credentialing ahead of school openings.
