Colusa County Office of Education financial staff presented a detailed review of the 2026–27 proposed budget and multiyear projections at the June 16 public hearing. Mike Renshaw reported an expected ending fund balance of $2.67 million for 2026–27 and projected ending balances of $2.54 million in 2027–28 and $2.50 million in 2028–29, while also noting an initial structural deficit of roughly $190,000 in 2026–27 that staff said would decline in subsequent years.
Staff reviewed employer cost pressures tied to CalSTRS and CalPERS and said those contributions were a focus of discussion; they also laid out categories of expenditures and noted that the County School Service reserve for economic uncertainties is set at $1.2 million (about 5%). Aaron Heinz told the board that CCOE received $532,000 from the Education Protection Account in 2025–26 and anticipates receiving less than $548,000 in 2026–27.
