Board approves new and replacement courses for high schools and academies

Trustees approved a slate of community college (CC) and high school equivalency (HSE) courses across Minarets High, Minarets Charter, Chawanakee Academy and Mountain Oaks to replace existing offerings and expand options including CC PHIL, CC Math, CC Art, Ethnic Studies and multiple HSE courses.
Principal Rhonda Corippo presented a list of new and replacement courses for Minarets High School, Minarets Charter High School, Chawanakee Academy and Mountain Oaks High School. The slate included dual-enrollment community college courses (for example CC PHIL 1D and CC Math 5A/B), CC ART and CC MUSIC 12, career/technical offerings such as Advanced Floral and Advanced Food & Hospitality, Ethnic Studies, and multiple HSE (high school equivalency) courses across subjects.
The board approved the course list unanimously on a motion by Jack Thornburg, seconded by Barbara Bigelow. Corippo said the courses would replace current offerings and expand student options; the minutes do not list seat counts, staffing or budget changes tied to the approvals.
