The board approved a service contract with Kern Family Farm to provide consultation for curriculum development and hands-on learning in the North Fork garden, and also approved a new School Garden Aide job description and a posted job position to support the district’s garden and community-school activities. Principal Katie Bethune said Kern Family Farm has worked with North Fork’s garden for 20 years and will assist in curriculum and project design.
Superintendent Jamie Nino presented the job description for a School Garden Aide and said the role will work beside principals, food services and the Community Schools Coordinator. Trustee Barbara Bigelow asked who would provide lessons; Nino said a credentialed teacher would. Trustee discussion noted the position’s link to the CCSPP grant and that the job posting, if funded by the grant, would be labeled temporary.
