"Our school began its chapter during the 2024 to 2025 school year with 20 official members. As of right now... we have a 167 official members and nearly 1000 service hours," Pauline Alvarez, Key Club president, said. Casey Banner, Key Club advisor at Northeast Career and Technical Academy, described student-led service projects that fed families and restocked a pantry during Thanksgiving.
Students explained how the club builds leadership and public-speaking skills: officers lead weekly meetings, coordinate service projects, and represent the chapter at a regional training conference where the club won its division. Committee members asked about logistics for after-school meetings and transportation; students said they use shared calendars, Google Sheets, and district networks to post volunteer opportunities and sign-ups so members can participate despite scheduling barriers.
Members praised the students’ work and encouraged continued mentorship and outreach so the chapter can sustain growth.
