Planning commission forwards Hollywood Speedway Commerce Center rezoning to council
Summary
The commission voted to forward a request to reclassify roughly 13.08 acres from Open Land to M-2 (General Industrial) — staff said M-2 matches the heavy industrial master-plan designation and recommended approval; the applicant reported neighbor support and the commission had no public opposition.

The North Las Vegas Planning Commission on Jan. 14 voted to forward a rezoning request for the Hollywood Speedway Commerce Center to the city council for final action. Staff told commissioners the two parcels (APNs 12327701006 and 12327701007) were given an OL designation after annexation and that reclassification to M-2 aligns with the area's heavy industrial land-use designation; staff recommended approval.
Applicant Brian Myers said he owns the three parcels, that one parcel is already zoned M-2, and that one neighbor attended a neighborhood meeting in support. "My client owns all three of these properties," Myers said, noting the request is to rezone the two OL parcels to match the adjacent industrial zoning. No members of the public filled out blue cards to speak on the item. Commissioner Greer moved to approve the staff recommendation, and the motion passed; final action will be taken by the city council.
