CCSD Region 1 reports gains in ELA and science; district highlights strategic supports

A representative of Clark County School District Region 1 presented student-achievement data to the North Las Vegas City Council on Dec. 3, highlighting modest but steady gains across grade levels and subject areas.
The presenter said elementary ELA proficiency increased by 3.2 percentage points to 35.8%, middle school ELA improved by 4.6 points and high school ELA by 4.2 points; middle-school science reached 22.9% proficiency and some high-school science measures had doubled over a three-year period. The district credited these gains to consistent tier-1 instructional materials, licensed teachers, and strengthened student-support structures. "This progress across every subject and every grade level is not a matter of luck," the presenter said.
Victoria Turner, principal of Scott Elementary, joined the presentation to describe school programs including community engagement, tree-planting partnerships and student-led events that contributed to school climate and instruction. Council members thanked the district for the report and said they plan to participate in upcoming strategic-plan discussions.
