City awards $250,000 in education microgrants to 38 teachers; program expected to reach 18,000 students

The City of North Las Vegas awarded $250,000 to 38 teachers across 25 schools as part of its education microgrant program, city Education Initiatives Manager Ingrid Johnson said at the Dec. 3 council meeting.
Johnson said the program received a record 128 applicants this year and that the awarded projects will support classroom innovation—from STEM activities to simulated work environments in special education—and reach roughly 18,000 North Las Vegas students. "This initiative puts funding directly into classrooms to drive innovation, boost achievement, and prepare students for success in college, technical training, and the workforce," Johnson said.
Councilmembers and the mayor thanked recipients and staff; the city noted that over four years North Las Vegas has invested $920,000 in education microgrants. Recipients were invited to join the mayor and council at the front for recognition and certificates.
