Council approves solid-waste fee increase tied to CPI-U and disposal costs

City staff brought forward Resolution 25-28 to adopt inflation (CPI-U) and disposal-cost pass-through adjustments to the city's solid-waste collection fee schedule under the franchise agreement.
The franchise representative introduced himself to council: "I'm Erin Murphy with Heart and Sanitation," and said the requested increase will help Harden Sanitation pay employees more in the current economy, add new trucks and maintain manageable route sizes for Eagle as it grows. He said the company will also add a commercial truck dedicated to Eagle routes and invest in additional automated equipment.
Council compared local costs with neighboring Meridian's rates and discussed service improvements (additional leaf-collection weeks and better signage for leaf-drop roll-offs). After discussion, a council member moved to adopt Resolution 25-28; a roll-call vote passed the resolution.
The franchise representative also reminded residents of rules for Christmas-tree collection (no lights, decorations) and the company said it would explore heavier, theft-resistant signage for leaf-collection sites next season.
