County Superintendent Chuck Wayman told the board about recent county and regional engagements, including attendance at CSR Region 3 on March 13, where participants discussed advocating to increase the 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit to 60 days and support for the California Student Emergency Response Network (CSERN). He said CCOE staff hosted an MC3 informational night on March 24 to promote apprenticeship classes in construction trades and is doing outreach to county high schools with the hope that the first class will be offered this summer.
Wayman also reported Cabinet work to revise CCOE’s Mission, Vision and Goals as groundwork for a strategic plan; he said that this work may lead to a board retreat, which he proposed later in the meeting. He noted meetings with the County Auditor and Treasurer to ensure fiscal alignment and that interviews are underway for the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education/SELPA Director position.
