Board approves audit contract renewal, JS West license revision, emergency repairs and equipment purchases
Summary

At its March 11 meeting the Chawanakee board unanimously approved several operational items: renewal of the district's external audit contract with Borchardt, Corona, Faeth & Zakarian; a revision to the JS West license agreement reducing the term to seven years; an emergency repair and replacement of a hot water heater at North Fork School's Kennedy Hall; and capital purchases for student athletics and Nutrition Services.
CBO Melissa Kielpinski described the audit firm as the district's external auditor for the last 10 years and recommended continuing their services. Director of MOT Nick Von Flue detailed the emergency hot water repair and the JS West license-term change. Principal Rhonda Corippo and the Minarets Foundation combined funds to purchase a high jump pit to be housed at Minarets and available to other district sites; the board approved that purchase.
Nutrition Services Manager Jennifer Stanley sought approval to buy a 2024 Kia Niro electric vehicle to support meal service. The purchase is partially funded by a $20,000 grant from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution District; the remaining $17,246.75 would be paid from KIT (Kitchen Infrastructure and Training) funds, an allowable expenditure verified by the California Department of Education. Trustees approved the vehicle purchase.
All operational motions were approved unanimously and will proceed under staff implementation plans.
