The City of Gregory council considered an offer from Rudy and Isabel Rivera to sell properties at 404 North Avenue and 501 Franklin to the city and subsequently voted to take no action after closed-session consideration.
Council placed the item on old business and moved into closed session to discuss the matter. After returning to open session, a council member moved that no action be taken on the purchases; the motion was seconded and the roll call returned affirmative responses from present members, carrying the motion. “I’ll make a motion that no action be taken in the purchase of, 501 North and 404 Franklin,” the council member stated on the floor.
Council members and members of the public asked whether the decision closed the door permanently; members said owners may return to present additional information or place the matter on a future agenda. No purchase authorization, price, contract or amendment was approved tonight.
