Barry County awards countywide construction-code contract to PCI through 2031

Barry County commissioners voted unanimously on July 28 to approve Resolution #26-19 contracting with Professional Code Inspections of Michigan (PCI) to provide State Construction Code services countywide, including administration and enforcement of building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing codes.
The motion, moved by David Hatfield and seconded by Jon Smelker, adopted the proposed fee schedule as part of the contract. The minutes record that the contract is effective August 1, 2026, and continues through December 31, 2031.
The contract centralizes enforcement and code-administration duties under PCI; the minutes do not list projected fee revenue or anticipated cost savings. County staff will implement the fee schedule and coordinate transition steps with PCI.
