Chair Cynthia Murnyack-Czarnecki thanked the post for continuing community leadership.
The Commission recorded the motion and vote in the meeting record: "Motion by Mr. White and seconded by Mr. Morahan to recognize the David F. Schneider Avon/Avon Lake Post 7035 as a Local Landmark located at 36950 Mills Road, and the vote was: Ms. Szippl, “yes”; Mr. White, "yes"; Mr. Morahan, “yes”; Ms. Murnyack-Czarnecki, "yes"." Representatives from the post who introduced themselves at the meeting included Kerry Barvincak (Post Commander), Janet Barvincak (Ladies Auxiliary/Honor Guard), Gerald Gallant, and Steve Grasso (Post Quartermaster).
The designation, the record shows, acknowledges both the building’s age and the post’s significance tied to Corporal David F. Schneider, an Avon High School graduate who died in action on Feb. 14, 1968. Photographs were taken at the meeting to commemorate the award.
