County renews Accurint subscription to improve tax-claim notifications

Elk County commissioners approved renewing the Accurint government subscription (LexisNexis) used by the tax-claims office to locate property owners and interested parties for judicial-sale notices.
Tyler Daniels, chief assessor, said the county adopted the paid service after the judge pushed for more reliable address data and that staff have used it to locate owners or interested parties who might otherwise be missed. "This was a way that we could get it and not be in the law enforcement branch of the LexisNexis thing," Daniels said, adding that the paid service has provided more accurate information than the free online tools the office previously used. The subscription term and rate were presented on the record; the transcript recorded the dates and a monthly rate as: "from 08/01/2026 through July 3127 at a rate of a $130 per month." The county clerk and assessor will confirm the correct end date in the official contract paperwork.
Commissioners approved the renewal by voice vote. Daniels said the service should reduce objections in court by improving the accuracy of notices to owners and lienholders.
