County approves three Children & Youth Services contract renewals

Elk County commissioners approved three consolidated contract renewals for Children & Youth Services, covering (a) a parenting services provider, (b) the county's child welfare information-sharing system integration with state software, and (c) a renewal with the Children's Advocacy Center in McKean County for forensic interviews and coordinated investigations.
Nancy Baker summarized the renewals, saying the parenting provider offers countywide parenting services and that the information-sharing contract is required for counties that have contracts with the state child welfare system. "So our renewal contract for the consent center, they provide parenting throughout Elk County for some of those children and families," Baker said. She described the Children's Advocacy Center as a "one-stop shop" where forensic interviews and multiagency investigations occur to reduce repeated interviews of children.
The board approved items (a), (b) and (c) in a single motion by voice vote. No dollar amounts were discussed on the record during this discussion; the renewals were presented as part of the routine budget and compliance process.
