District Updates Bond Project: Stormwater Inspections, Baseball Field Design Amendments and Permitting Timeline

Maureen, the district business official, briefed trustees on two amendments to the contract with Land Associates tied to the Burke Estate work: adding a separate contractor to conduct required storm pollution prevention plan inspections and commissioning additional design and construction documents for baseball‑field improvements.

"As we're, the ground is being disturbed at the Burke Estate, there are weekly inspections or biweekly inspections that are required to have to happen," Maureen said, explaining that an external partner (the LA Group) will conduct the required inspections and that the district must retain an on‑site binder documenting those inspections. On the baseball field, architects were asked for additional design work after initial site investigations surfaced items the team wanted to address before proceeding.

Maureen told trustees the expenditures for inspections and modest design changes are within the bond budget and that there is contingency available: "the overall budget for the, approved contract at Burke Estate is well under what we had, anticipated... within our professional services area of that budget, this would be able to be absorbed." She warned that state permitting and review mean the district is likely to wait four to five months for some approvals and stressed the need for a full logistics and safety plan to be submitted to the state before a permit would be issued. Trustees asked about traffic, permitting and whether the additional costs come from the bond; Maureen confirmed the work is covered by the bond budget and that community forums and town coordination will follow.
