Township consultant Robert Barnes urged the board to award a contract to address long-standing flooding in and near Heroes Park and identified the lowest responsive bidder.
“We were recently awarded a grant to do some of this work...The lowest bidder was James R. Kenny Excavating...in the amount of $266,814,” Barnes said, summarizing the competitive bidding process and the contractor recommendation. The board moved, seconded and approved awarding the contract to the low bidder.
Barnes said public-works improvements and inlet work over the past years had not fully solved the flooding; the detention basin project is intended to reduce future flood impacts in the neighborhood. The contract was reviewed under the township's responsible-contractor ordinance and found to be appropriate.
