SCOE trustees honor March students of the month; superintendent opens meeting

The Solano County Office of Education board adopted the meeting agenda and opened its regular Wednesday meeting with student recognitions on March 12.
Angela Jung, the special education program administrator, introduced Jeremiah as the special-education student of the month, praising his emotional and academic growth and noting staff support across his Individualized Education Program team. "He's a senior in high school…he is just a star," teacher Nick Lillard said of Jeremiah. Lillard described classroom milestones and said staff planned to present Jeremiah with a commemorative gold student-of-the-month shirt.
Dr. Valerie Garrett presented the JCCS (juvenile court and community school) March student of the month, Dante Williams, and asked trustees to note Dante’s graduation date. "Graduation is on 05/30/2025," Garrett said, and added that Dante had completed course work early and exemplified the goals of the Golden Hills program. Superintendent Estrella Henderson and trustees congratulated the students and their families and encouraged a classroom visit to capture photographs and celebrate the honorees.
The recognitions were presented before the board shifted to scheduled business, including an interim financial update and the Local Control and Accountability Plan review later in the agenda.
